Before blogging my first post for 2012, may I wish you all a happy & healthy 2012 filled with great music!
So what better way to start 2012 with a new song by flamboyant male singer Adam Lambert. Being a runner-up for the 8th season of American Idol, Lambert launched his career in 2009. From his debut album ‘For you entertainment’, the song “Whataya Want from Me” gained the most success. While his performance on the American Music Awards of 2009 was most memorable for kissing, grinding & grabbing male members of his band. Still Lambert became the biggest Idol star outside the US after Kelly Clarkson.
While the extravagance seems to work for Lady Gaga, I wonder if it helps Lambert’s career becoming an equal big popstar. His singing & performing ability definitely contributes for becoming one. But will the majority of itunes users & spotify streamers accept a male Gaga? Nonetheless it is admirable Lambert is being the person he is without compromising. No need to publicly come out of the closet after 40 anymore (Ricky Martin, George Michael)… At least I hope!
His new song “Better Than I Know Myself” is the first single from Adam Lambert’s forthcoming album “Trespassing”. The song is a great pop song, yet will not be the anthem song for Adam Lambert. In fact, he still needs to live up to the great popstar he promised to be during American Idol. Maybe his latest EMA performance with Queen and his new album will help him. All you need these days is a good Bruno Mars song. It is rumoured that Mr. Mars will deliver on Trespassing.
Please! Adam is NOT a male Lady Gaga! He has more class than she does! Adam is no longer considered “outrageous” or even flamboyant — have you seen the outfits being worn by groups like LMFAO these days?
Beautiful song, exquisite vocals–I wouldn’t make Gaga the standard for anything. She will be remembered for her outfits, not much else.
I love this song but, like you, I am hoping for anthem to top all anthems. That is a beautiful video with the song lyrics. I didn’t see any of the extravagance that you alluded to. In most of the pictures I have seen of Mr. Lambert in he has been stylishly dressed, except when in costumes for a performance. But even then I’ve yet to see anything remotely like Gaga or say Cee Lo. If you actually saw his last tour you probably would have been surprised how conservative, yet captivating it was. For all the press and fabrications he seems pretty modest.
I do love hearing his voice on the radio and I already pre-ordered the CD. I am looking forward to it and hopefully a new tour.
Adam can outsing Bruno Mars (or anybody today actually) and he can also write some really great songs. His talent is beyond anyone out there today so I do not know what you are talking about. Of course there are people who have a great deal of money invested in stars that do not have half the charisma or talent so that is probably the problem out there today.
My blog has so far not been about hate or disliking anyone. So I do like Adam Lambert, but I also like Bruno Mars. And there collaboration might just be the road for more popularity for Adam Lambert. At least in Europe.
I don’t necessarily think flamboyant of extravagant is a bad thing.
Adam wasnt the one who said “he would be a great popstar” that was the media and fans..I dont think Adam and Gaga have too much in common at all..Bruno is great but much more flamboyant than Adam. What the problem is , as I see it, is that people want someone to be their authentic selves, but when they are truly that, it is shunned upon. Unfortunately in the music business today its all about how much flash you have as an artist and very little to do with actual talent.Altho, flash and big theatrical numbers are fun, but not all there is to music..Adele has been one of the first (in the here and now) truly gifted singers to be accepted for her voice, without gimmicks..I hope this keeps rolling along, as people need to start listening to the music again instead of seeing only the performances. If people would just listen to Adams voice they would hear how wonderfully textured it is and how he can make you feel the words being sung..he has a gift and its up to us to accept it..
I totally agree with you. The most popular singers aren’t necessarily the most gifted ones.
