Tapes ‘n Tapes – Badaboom

Tapes ‘n Tapes is an indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota.Formed in the winter of 2003 at Carleton College, the band has released four albums. First came the self-released Tapes ‘n Tapes EP in 2004, followed by the full-length release, The Loon. Which contains “Insistor”. 2011 album “Outside” contains my favorite Tapes ‘n Tapes song “Badaboom”.

Okkervil River – Lost Coastlines

Okkervil River is an American rock band led by singer-songwriter Will Sheff. Formed in Austin, Texas in 1998, the band takes its name from a short story by Russian author Tatyana Tolstaya set on the river in St Petersburg. They began as a trio made up of Sheff and friends he’d met in his native state of New Hampshire but, over time, have gone through many lineups.

Okkervil River self-released their first album, Stars Too Small to Use, recorded in a garage.  They continued by releasing four more albums.

Turin Brakes – Sea Change

Turin Brakes is an English band, comprising original duo Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, and long term collaborators Rob Allum and Eddie Myer. Thet have already released 7 albums in a time span from 2001 until 2016. My favorite is “Outbursts” from 2010 with this single “Sea Change”.

Editors – Escape The Nest

My favorite “An End Has A Start” song is “Escape The Nest”. Sure hope to see them today at Best Kept Secret 2016!

Empire Of The Sun – Walking On A Dream

Weird band, great song part II. Just like MGMT this band had a huge hit in the 00’s with one song. The rest of the album could not really win me over. Maybe “Alive” on Ice Of The Dune” their second album.

MGMT – Kids

Great song. Weird band.Only song i like. Love.

The Fray – How To Save A Life

The Fray achieved national (US) success with their first single, “Over My Head (Cable Car)”, which became a top ten hit in the United States. The release of their second single, “How to Save a Life”, brought the band worldwide fame. The song charted in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 and was a top 5 single in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

City And Colour – Save Your Scissors

Dallas John Green (born September 29, 1980) is a Canadian singer-songwriter who records under the alias City and Colour. He plays melodic acoustic and folk music and is often accompanied by a rotating number of Canadian indie rock musicians, such as Daniel Romano and Spencer Burton. He is also known for his contributions as the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. In 2005, he debuted his first full-length album, Sometimes, which achieved Platinum certification in 2006. City and Colour began performing in small intimate venues while Alexisonfire disappeared for some time. The name City and Colour comes from his own name: Dallas, a city, and Green, a colour. His reasoning for the name was that he felt queasy “putting the album out under the name Dallas Green”.

The Tallest Man On Earth – Sagres

Kristian Matsson (born 30 April 1983) is a Swedish singer-songwriter from Dalarna, Sweden who performs under the stage name of The Tallest Man on Earth. Matsson grew up in Leksand, and began his solo career in 2006, having previously been the lead singer of the indie band Montezumas. His music has often drawn comparisons to the music of Bob Dylan.

This song “Sagres”, from his fourth album “Dark Bird Is Home” was the one that got me completely by surprise. I had’nt been a big fan until this work, but this got me appreciating the rest too.
